When you seek out advice for writing on the internet, there are a lot of calls to "find your niche". It's the thing you are going to specialize in that brings everyone to your yard.

I find the concept of "niching down" to be overwhelming and paralyzing. What if I choose a topic and then get bored of writing about it a few weeks down the road? Actually, I am CONFIDENT that would happen.

As a human being, I have a lot of interests. I want to write about a lot of different topics. In fact, I want to write not just to share information, but because I know the process of writing itself is a powerful tool for clarifying and connecting.

I think the more interesting approach will be to write about any and all topic that I am interested in and then start to see how I can connect those topics.

David Perell talks about a "personal monopoly". It is the "unique intersection of an individual's talents, interests, and knowledge that cannot be easily replicated or replaced by others". It's similar to the concept of a remix — by adding 1 + 1 you get 3 (ie., something completely new).

So, I will write about the things that I find interesting: theology, philosophy, productivity, design, parenting, music, guitar, reading, and possibly the next new hobby that I have not even picked up yet.

I don't need to find a niche, I am the niche.
