Book Summary (in 3 Sentences)

When we can learn to expand our capacity for awareness, our quality of life and happiness is greatly enhanced. The Wheel of Awareness is a useful metaphor for envisioning our awareness as the central hub and any of the thoughts, feelings, or images in our mind as the rim around the hub. We can begin to develop our "mindsight" and improve our awareness by developing the three skills of openness, observation, and objectivity.

How I Discovered It

I have read several of Daniel J. Siegel's books (Whole-Brain Child, No-Drama Discipline) so when I came across this book in the Libby app I immediately borrowed it.

Who Should Read It

Admittedly this book is a thoroughly in-depth look at awareness and mindfulness that is probably not for everyone. I found it interesting because it details some of the medical and psychological research into the practice of meditation and mindfulness.

How the Book Changed Me (life, behavior, thoughts, ideas have changed)

In a lot of ways this book confirmed experiences I have already had with mindfulness and meditation and provide more insight into the research and science behind why mindfulness is so effective.
